Yes, they really do taste like cotton candy. The sweetest, most delectable grapes I have every tasted.
Where did I find these sugary little jewels, you ask?
Why, Central Market of course. They lured me in last year with a sample… walked around the store letting people try them. But they sold out before I could purchase a bag.
Last night I walked in to the grocery department and there they were… I grabbed one of the few remaining bags and couldn’t resist popping a few in my mouth before I got them home. I haven’t finished off the bag yet (but will soon!) and am already counting the days until next season.
They’ve only been on the market since 2011… Have you ever experienced this yumminess?

Ohmygosh. Those look incredible. Can I please, please have some when I visit you next? I love grapes. Cotton-candy ones sound like heaven.

Cotton candy grapes? Interesting. I like grapes, but cotton candy leaves my teeth feeling rotten and gives me a sugar headache, although the flavor is nice. Do these grapes have those side effects?
LOL, no Brandon… these grapes are sweeter than most green grapes (but less sugar in them than raisins), but what makes them taste like cotton candy is a vanilla overtone which they created from cross breeding with another variety of grapes.
My bag is now gone.

We watch every fall for the arrival of red ‘Holiday’ grapes. They are sweet, plump, seedless globes of flavor.
Sadly it seems all of california’s really good produce gets shipped out of state. It seems we get the dregs or what ever Chili has left over. What I wouldn’t give for a Utah tomato.
