Kitty is hidingSo a new kitty moved in with me over the weekend.  He is about 6 years old and has been with the same companion for his entire life - so this was a big change for him.  He’s very sweet, but was totally freaked out for the first few days.   He spent the first day and half hiding under the pillows on my leather chair….  or behind my vcr in the media cabinet….

KittyThe bathroom is apparently his “happy place” because that’s where he runs whenever he hears a strange noise, and where he likes to sleep his day away…..

Bit by bit he is getting more comfortable here - seems to have figured out that he’ll be fed, and petted and there are no other cats to steal his food.   And bit by bit he’s becoming more playful.  Got him to chase a laser light around last night.

And he’s very affectionate - loves to be cradled like a baby while I scratch his head or rub his tummy.

He came to me with the name Belli (because he lays on his back and loves his belly rubbed), but it just isn’t fitting for me….  So I need to find a name for kitty.

Any suggestions?

He is a sweetie. He looks a little reserved, therefore needs a British sounding name. Mr. Wigglesworth.

You have always loved cats :o) I’m sure this one will be a lot of company for you..just having another living thing in your home will be nice for you. hum what name should he have??? Belli sure doesn’t seem to fit him Ralf? Berti? I’m anxious to hear what you give him :o)

Mr. Wigglesworth is fun…. hmmm.. I’ve also considered “Precious” and Snuggles”… or “Mr. Snuggles”…. but I like the British slant….

Yes mom - I have always loved cats but haven’t been able to live with one since I was a teenager - everyone inmy life seems to have those dreaded allergies.

Oh he is sweet. I can’t wait to come see both of you :)

Mr. Wigglesworth is cute :) Mr. Snuggles is also good… how about Pippin, Frodo, Bilbo… a LOTR name?
Or possibly go with a Harry Potter name, like Mr. Weasley?

HE IS A LOVER!!! Very handsome indeed, I like the British slant as well, um , Mr Bean, J. Bond, Pickwick, Mr. Darcy, Hitchcock..I wonder if Kitty enjoys things placed upon him?

I’m so happy you have your cat.

Allison, I’m glad you finally got a cat. They are wonderful companions. Stupid but loyal. Very forgiving. My cat looked a lot like this one, though more white and gray. I wanted to name him Chester, and Frances wanted Grady - so he became Chester O’Grady.

This one also has blue eyes, and we almost named ours Sinatra or Mr. Sinatra because of it. If you want a British slant, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow would be good.

I hope he has an appitite for spiders..

Kitty is NOT fond of items being placed upon him, unless that item is my hand to scratch his ears or rub his belly. Perhaps in time he will allow me to adorn him.

But he is such a cuddler. If I am sitting on the couch, he thinks he has to be curled up on my chest, and gets rather put out when I want to stand up and put him on the floor.

I’m wondering about a King Arthur/Monty Python Holy Grail type name… “Sir Robin” perhaps? Lancelot?

Or maybe Professor something or other….

I like many of the names suggested :o) So far I think my favorite is Mr. Robin.

Oh I must tell you how much I enjoy looking through your lens :o).. I don’t know whre to post a comment there, so I’m telling you here :o) I love seeing your pictures.

Hey, in the very first Harry Potter episode, the professor played by Maggie Smith was a cat. She was in the neighborhood when they dropped the baby off on the doorstep. I can’t remember her name, but maybe you can call it Professor…. whatever her name was..

Professor McGonagall…

I’m considering ignoring the fact he’s a boy kitty (he’s neutered anyway), and calling him Hermione :)

Is it just me, or do cats seem feminine and dogs masculine? I always instinctively think in terms of “she” for cats and “he” for dogs

Michelle on September 13th, 2007 at 11:53 am

I find your kitty to look masculine! He’s very handsome indeed.

Ms. Hermione gets my vote…..

I have a male dog who thinks he’s a cat and I constantly refer to Simba as she..

I don’t know who’s more confuse me or Simba.

What a handsome kitty!! He looks so proper they way he’s sitting to straight! Enjoy - it’s always nice to have an animal around you.
