Does anyone besides me want to slap the so-called “analysts” on the cable news networks upside the head?

I’ve been watching much of the Democratic National Convention this week and am thoroughly disgusted by the truly deranged commentary.    Rather than journalism, they are all about creating conflict and drama - even if it isn’t there.

The MSNBC team turned into mind readers…  especially Pat Buchanan who apparently knows Hillary better than she knows herself.    He told us what Hillary was really thinking while giving her speech - and the journatlists who should KNOW BETTER did the same, or asking everyone they interviewed to take a shot at reading her mind.  Never mind what she actually SAID in her speech - they know better what she’s thinking.

And Fox is the worst of them.  I was swtiching through all of the news channels to get a feel for the coverage after the speeches, and was shocked by the nonsense I heard there.  Were they watching the same speeches?????

If FOX news would come out and admit it they are simply a mouth piece for the GOP I could accept that - but their ABSURD moniker of being “Fair and Balanced” makes me want to throw up. Or take a gun and shoot myself.  No, take it to the studio and shoot all of them.

Anyone who would hire Karl Rove (evil incarnate) to be a news analyst should be shot.  OK, maybe I’m taking that too far.  Should be sent to an assylum for the truly deluded and deranged.  But Karl Rove should be shot, or imprisoned and tortured for all his crimes he’ll never pay for on this earth. It never ceases to amaze me how many people turn off their brains and believe the partisan crap on this not-news station.  I can only figure they like hearing stuff that feeds into their existing world veiw - rather than the way things are.

What has happened to real, objective journalism???

Thank heaven for PBS and C-SPAN.   I watched Bill’s speech last night (which was incredible, by the way) on CSPAN - and when I turned to PBS afterward, I heard intelligent analysis without all the invented drama.

Jon Stewart - one of the most trusted journalists in america> At this point, the only news sources I really trust are NPR and PBS. And of course Jon Stewart (<a target=Frankly, the only sources I trust for news are NPR and PBS - and of course Jon Stewart (one of the most trusted journalists in America, by the way) thrown in for a comedic take.  Viewers of his “fake” news show actually get more accurate information than on those who watch Fox).

Who do you think are the worst (or best) journalists/analysts and commentators?

Over the years Paris Hilton has received little more than eye rolls from me…
And yet here she is being all clever and making me laugh, in her response ad to John McCain’s moronic (and false) “Celebrity” ad.

See more funny videos at Funny or Die

What a pleasant suprise.

McCain’s latest ad “Celebrity” tries to negatively link Obama to the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears… (yes they are all celebrities, but nothing alike as people) and the makes a completely false assertion that he would raise taxes on electricity.   Not true, according to factcheck.org and the Cincinnati Enquirer.

I’m getting more disgusted by the day and I’m afraid you’re going to be seeing a lot more political posts from me as the election gets closer.   What happened to McCain’s promise of a “respectful” campaign?

I really hope my Republican leaning friends/family see through this nonsense and don’t reward the behavior. Don’t be fooled by Karl Rove’s minions this election. Don’t vote McCain! It would be like getting another George Bush, only angrier.

I suggest a vote for Obama! But if you just can’t bring yourself to do that - why not take a look at Libertarian Candidate Bob Barr?

I kept hoping against hope that Karl Rove wouldn’t play a part in the current election year.  He is evil incarnate.  He is the antichrist.  He is a vile creature that should be doomed to eternal torment in unimagineable ways.  Or maybe you can imagine them - if so share some ideas with me

McCain - like Bush, only older and angier. But I digress.  Unfortunately, John McCain has hired Steve Schmidt, a disciple of Karl Rove’s who worked on George W. Bush’s 2004 ads.   He is using the Rove playbook that says that it doesn’t matter if something is true as long as your target audience won’t bother to find out the actual truth, and believe that it “sounds like it might be a true.”

It’s a tactic similar to one employed by the nutcase Sean Hannity.  He relentlessly repeats falsehoods day after day, unchallenged by his co-host or call listeners.  Those lies become embedded in the media (and his audience).   Hannity could use some eternal torture as well.

Apparently, in his desperation, John McCain forgot his promise to run a clean campaign.   Here are a couple of recent doozies.

  • A new McCain TV ad falsely insinuates that Obama canceled his visit to wounded troops in Germany because “the Pentagon wouldn’t allow him to bring cameras.” (untrue)   But even if HAD visited the troops McCain had another ad (lie) ready claiming Obama used the visit/troops for political gain.   Here’s what FactCheck.org has to say.

  • In another recent ad, he’s claiming Obama is the guy to thank for the high price of gasoline.  Complete nonsense, according to FactCheck.org   And here is what USA Today editorial board had to say about it.

I’m sorry, but if you believe the crap in these ads, you are as big an idiot as McCain’s team takes you for.

Since I wasn’t given one at birth, I’ve decided to take on a middle name.   I wanted to choose an interesting name, with a cool meaning - and settled on one that means little; good looking.   Apparently this is becoming a bit of a trend right now (click to read the article that inspired me) , and I encourage you to do the same.  I’ll even share my middle name with you…. we can all be a little good looking… or was that little, good looking?

So just call me Allison Hussein Hays.

Oh, and by sheer coincidence this is the same middle name of Barack Obama - soon to be the next president of the United States.  Cool, huh?      Will you join me in taking on his middle name?

Shit for brainsSo, we learned this week that our sorry excuse for a president gave up golfing in 2003 “in solidarity” with the families of soldiers who were dying in Iraq, concluding that it was “just not worth it anymore” to play the sport in a time of war.

“I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf,” Bush said in a White House interview with the Politico. “I feel I owe it to the families to be as — to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”

That’s his idea of sacrifice, to give up golf?   This man is a shallow moron.

Have you seen this music video yet?  If not - watch and enjoy.
It’s really well done - and I love the message….

ABC first premiered the song, written/Produced by will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas (lyrics pretty much by Barack Obama) and Bob Dylan’s son, Jesse, and featuring Scarlett Johansson, John Legend, Herbie Hancock, Kate Walsh, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Adam Rodriquez, Kelly Hu, Amber Valetta and Nick Cannon and others.

Spread the word, spread the hope… and vote!

I was so thrilled with the results of the Iowa causes tonight.  Turn out was record breaking, and as many of the caucus goers were under 30 as over 65 - a big change from the past… and over 50% of those younger voters caucused for Obama.   Many independents and more than a few Republicans also chose to be counted among his supporters in Iowa….   VERY exciting, don’t you think???!

Listening to Obama’s victory speech, I was so moved. The thought that this intelligent, articulate, reasonable, respectful, hopeful man could actually become our president nearly brought me to tears.  I’m so ready for change.  Ready to hope again.  I’m ready for unity.  Obama inspires me and I would be so proud to have this man as our president.    If you agree, I encourage you to donate $25 or more to his campaign.

Here is his speech - what do you think of Obama, of his message?

Children DO learn - but apparently, George Bush does not.

This is priceless, especially considering the topic and audience.

There is an idiot in the Whitehouse….
