His skating was beautiful and the medal was well deserved.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"floatleft\" title=\"Johnny Weir\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/jw1.jpg\" alt=\"jw1\" width=\"223\" height=\"265\" \/>However, <em class=\"b\">Johnny Weir was robbed<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Although not as technically advanced as Evan or Plushenko, Johnny&#8217;s performance was by far <em class=\"b\">my favorite<\/em> of the evening.<\/p>\n<p>It was nearly flawless &#8211; and was the <em class=\"b\">most artistic and moving<\/em> of any of the skaters.  His music choice was perfect.  His costume was beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>His program was personal &#8211; titled &#8220;Fallen Angel&#8221; to represent his personal journey through skating.<\/p>\n<p>I was simply <em class=\"b\">appalled<\/em> at the low marks he received both for his short program (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbcolympics.com\/video\/assetid=3494c322-4a36-4386-ab14-a619dc7c96ee.html#johnny+weir+rocks+tassel\" target=\"resource window\">watch here<\/a>) and for his even more amazing free skate tonight (hopefully video will be posted soon).   <em class=\"b\">I think he deserved the bronze medal.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I have to wonder how much the judges let his his outrageous personality <em>(I love that he is always &#8216;himself&#8217; &#8211; including wearing a hat of red roses while awaiting his marks)<\/em> factored into their scoring.<\/p>\n<p><em class=\"b\">Did you watch men&#8217;s figure skating?  What were your favorite performances?\u00c2\u00a0 And what did you think of the results?<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While you&#8217;re considering your answer, here are a few fun Johnny Weir facts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>He&#8217;s kind of a <strong>big fan of Russia<\/strong>. And &#8220;kind of&#8221; is a colossal understatement.<\/li>\n<li>Watching <strong>Oksana Baiul<\/strong> in the 1994 Olympics <strong>inspired him<\/strong> to try figure skating. (He found Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan &#8220;terribly boring.&#8221;)<\/li>\n<li> He started <strong>skating on a cornfield<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li> He landed an axel in his <strong>first <\/strong>skating lesson (a jump that typically takes skaters a few years to master).<\/li>\n<li>He <strong>designs many of his own costumes<\/strong> &#8211; and wants to launch a career in fashion.<\/li>\n<li> He&#8217;d also like to try his hand at politics as an ambassador to South Korea or Russia.<\/li>\n<li> He brought a poster of <strong>Lady Gaga <\/strong>with him to the Olympic Village so that she &#8220;could watch over us&#8221;.
