\"ashleyrae.jpg\"<\/a>I just learned that my sister, Kristin, has adopted a very important family tradition.\u00c2\u00a0 I’m so delighted!<\/p>\n

It began when Ashley started dating.\u00c2\u00a0 The first time a new suitor would come to do the door, I would answer and greet them.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Unbeknownst to Ashley, The dialogue woud go something like this:<\/p>\n

\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 boy:\u00c2\u00a0 Is Ashley home?
\n<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Me: Yes, she is – but first, a song.
\n<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 boy:\u00c2\u00a0 Huh?\u00c2\u00a0
\n\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em>Me: A song. You need to sing me a song.
\n<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 boy:\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0(visibly weighing options)\u00c2\u00a0 Umm…\u00c2\u00a0 what song?
\n<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Me: Oh, any song will do. Maybe ________ (then a suggestion).
\n<\/em>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 boy:\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0really? <\/em><\/p>\n

Some took a bit more convincing – not wanting to look foolish, I’m sure.\u00c2\u00a0 But when they realized I was dead serious and they were NOT getting in the house, nor was Ashley being made aware of their arrival, they’d give in and sing. \u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Some even enjoyed themselves, and those were the boys I knew would be fun dates for Ashley.<\/p>\n

I heard “Give Said The Little Stream<\/em>“, “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star<\/em>” among others.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 My\u00c2\u00a0all-time favorite response was Ashley’s friend Josh – all 6’4″ of him…. without batting an eye, he launched into “I’m a Little Teapot<\/em>” (which he chose) and even did the actions.\u00c2\u00a0 He got bonus points.<\/p>\n

One kid, named Richard, absolutely REFUSED<\/strong> to sing and I eventually relented in letting him in.\u00c2\u00a0 But I knew he’d be a very POOR MATCH foor my daughter (which he was… not a fun bone in his body)… and after a far too long dating spell she finally realized it too \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Justin, now her husband, performed Rod Stewart’s – “Have I told you Lately That I Love You<\/strong>” beautifully… ending up on one knee, I believe.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0The two of them are still singing today!<\/p>\n

\"jneilposes_61a_sm.jpg\"<\/a>So…. today I learned that J’Neil (my neice) had her first suitor arrive today – and Kristin was serenaded with “Itsy Bitsy Spider<\/strong>.”\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I nearly cried with joy.<\/p>\n

Since J’Neil is just entering her dating era, Kristin would love a list of song suggestions…. any ideas<\/em>?\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n
