Jonny Quest\" width=\"100\" height=\"117\" class=\"floatrightnb\" \/>I&#8217;ve had a few (sometimes inexplicable) celebrity crushes over the course of my life&#8230;. mostly in my youth.   <\/p>\n<p><em class=\"b\">Jonny Quest<\/em> <em>(yes, the cartoon)<\/em> was the first.  He was followed by a string of mostly musicians&#8230;   teen heart throbs like <em class=\"b\">Davy Jones, Donny Osmond<\/em> and <em class=\"b\">David Cassidy<\/em>, etc.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/3CRUSHES.jpg\" alt=\"My 3 crushes\" title=\"My crushes... Davy, Donny, David\" width=\"469\" height=\"237\" class=\"floatleftnb\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p>Yes, it&#8217;s a bit embarrassing &#8211; but <em>admit it<\/em>&#8230; you loved them too, or someone just like them in your own music era.  (FYI, I fell for musicians in <em>real-life<\/em>, too&#8230;)     <\/p>\n<p>Anyway, during the 80s I developed a celebrity crush on <em class=\"b\">Richard Page<\/em>, lead singer\/songwriter from the band Mr. Mister.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/MM.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"MM\" width=\"200\" height=\"187\" class=\"floatright\" \/>It wasn&#8217;t a physical attraction &#8211; I just felt a real connection to him whenever he sang.   It felt almost like I <em>knew<\/em> him (I didn&#8217;t, of course) and I found myself <em class=\"b\">fantasizing about various scenarios<\/em> in which we&#8217;d meet and discover we were soul mates, yada yada.  LOL.   It felt more than a bit silly even at the time, but I apparently needed a fantasy to help me cope emotionally, and his music spoke to me and gave me that escape.  Whatever the reason, I was seriously crushing on Richard Page.  <\/p>\n<p>Aside from all the crush stuff, I really enjoyed the music and respected him as a singer\/songwriter.   Watching the video Kyrie gave me <em class=\"b\">permagrin<\/em> <em>(I still can&#8217;t watch without singing along and smiling).   <\/em>Broken Wings my be among my top 10 ballads&#8230;    I listened to The Border over and over again&#8230;   I just <em> liked <\/em>how I felt when I heard him sing.<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"525\" id=\"table1\" cellspacing=\"12\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"219\" height=\"178\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XNKbHJ3PTu4?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/td>\n<td><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"219\" height=\"178\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tp59e4cFgwQ?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Kyrie<\/td>\n<td>Broken Wings<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>As most bands do, Mr. Mister faded away after a couple of albums, and Richard with them&#8230; interestingly, about the time when I didn&#8217;t need the mental escape anymore.   But he continued to work in the industry as a sought after <em class=\"b\">backup vocalist and a songwriter<\/em>.   I have seen his name crop up over the years on a number of projects &#8211; he has written\/co-written hits for Madonna, Josh Groban, Celine Dion, and many more.   But, after one solo album back in 1995, Richard wasn&#8217;t producing his own music. <\/p>\n<p>After seeing him credited on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yoygmylt2iM\" target=\"resource_window\">Josh Groban&#8217;s &#8220;Thankful&#8221; video<\/a> recently, I decided to Google Richard again&#8230;  It had probably been 7 or more years since I&#8217;d done so.   <\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"525\" id=\"table1\" cellspacing=\"10\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td> I was thrilled to discover that <em class=\"b\"> Richard Page is back in performance mode! <\/em> <\/p>\n<p>He put out an album in 2010, along with an <a href=\"http:\/\/click.linksynergy.com\/fs-bin\/stat?id=kmWFzVhDL2c&#038;offerid=146261&#038;type=3&#038;subid=0&#038;tmpid=1826&#038;RD_PARM1=http%253A%252F%252Fitunes.apple.com%252Fus%252Falbum%252Fi-always-cry-at-christmas%252Fid298442295%253Fuo%253D4%2526partnerId%253D30\" target=\"itunes_store\">original Christmas song<\/a>&#8230;  (see video) <\/td>\n<td><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"131\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fMKI55zartk?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"525\" id=\"table1\" cellspacing=\"10\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"tsFrame85086\" src=\"http:\/\/cdn.topspin.net\/api\/v2\/widget\/player\/85086\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/em><\/td>\n<td>AND he has just released a <em class=\"b\">new acoustic album<\/em> (my favorite kind).   <\/p>\n<p><em>You can listen to the whole thing in this embedded player, and I hope you&#8217;ll listen to at least a few of the songs.<\/em> <\/p>\n<p>Finding this album was like<em class=\"b\"> running into an old friend<\/em>.  <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>I&#8217;m not crushing anymore, but still love that voice\/songwriting.   I hope he&#8217;ll keep making music. <\/p>\n<p><em>Thoughts on crushes?  On Richard&#8217;s music?
