{"id":2598,"date":"2012-01-01T20:16:14","date_gmt":"2012-01-02T03:16:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/?p=2598"},"modified":"2012-01-01T20:16:14","modified_gmt":"2012-01-02T03:16:14","slug":"2012-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/2012\/01\/2012-begins\/","title":{"rendered":"2012 Begins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s 2012 and I love living in the Northwest.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/flowbud.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"floatleft\" title=\"Primroses and Buddha \" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/flowbud-255x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a>Today, instead of being buried in snow on January 1st, I planted primrose in one of my garden pots.<\/p>\n<p>And I enjoyed watching the dozens of birds at my feeders&#8230; including a <em class=\"b\">sweet hummingbird<\/em> who is so happy I have left out a small feeder for him (in the pot with the primrose).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"floatright\" title=\"Pretty and pink\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/pinkflow1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"161\" \/>I also discovered a few other blooms in the rock garden.   And wondered if the little blob on my finger was a bug&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/tinyslug.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"floatleft\" title=\"A Tiny Slug\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/tinyslug-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"135\" height=\"135\" \/><\/a>&#8230; or a tiny slug.<\/p>\n<p><em class=\"b\">It was the latter. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s cute, but will grow into a <em class=\"b\">garden menace<\/em> so I flushed him down the toilet.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/frog-bowl.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"floatright\" title=\"Golden yoga frog and tibeten bowl\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/frog-bowl-255x195.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a>To ring in the new year, I also spent some time playing my new<em class=\"b\"> Tibetan bowl<\/em>.  <\/p>\n<p>I have been a bit distressed to discover that my <em class=\"b\">formerly<\/em> perfect pitch is currently off by 1\/2 step.  When I first played the bowl, I was sure it was an E-flat or even an E.  But it&#8217;s a D.  AGH!  <\/p>\n<p>I downloaded an app to help test\/retrain me and <em class=\"b\">I am consistently 1\/2 step too high<\/em>.  I know what the note is &#8211; it&#8217;s just a half step off from the rest of the world.  It&#8217;s unsettling and I hope that I can come back into tonal alignment (or whatever it would be called).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/flowersmakemehappy.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"floatleftnb\" title=\"Flowers Make Me Happy\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Flowers-Logo310-255x252.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"202\" \/><\/a>By the way, I started a new blog awhile ago and have made a resolution to update it regularly.  It&#8217;s called:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/flowersmakemehappy.com\" target=\"resource_window\">FlowersMakeMeHappy.com <\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">It is devoted entirely to my love of flowers, and it&#8217;s where I will post lots of my flower photos.   I also have a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pages\/Flowers-Make-Me-Happy\/151301081609649\" target=\"resource_window\">facebook page<\/a> where I post additional photos, and <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/imflowerhappy\" target=\"resource_window\">twitter feed<\/a> for it.
