{"id":321,"date":"2008-10-26T01:43:53","date_gmt":"2008-10-26T08:43:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/archives\/321"},"modified":"2008-10-26T02:04:18","modified_gmt":"2008-10-26T09:04:18","slug":"the-road-to-hoh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/2008\/10\/the-road-to-hoh\/","title":{"rendered":"The road to Hoh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sparklemoss1.jpg\" alt=\"Sparkly Moss\" class=\"floatleft\" \/>Day 2 of the sisters&#8217; roadtrip took us first to:<\/p>\n<h3>Hoh Rain Forest<\/h3>\n<p>In the first &#8220;oooooh!&#8221; moment of the day, the sun turned dew drops on\u00c2\u00a0gossamer moss into sparkling diamonds.\u00c2\u00a0 It looked magical to me. <em class=\"b\">I have a bit of a fascination with moss<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, Kristin probably lost track of\u00c2\u00a0how many times did I said, <em>&#8220;I love moss&#8221; <\/em>as we were walking through the forest.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I think we also confirmed that I love living in the northwest.\u00c2\u00a0 <em class=\"b\">It&#8217;s just so beautiful here<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a good thing Kristin loves taking pictures too, because I think most people would have wanted to slap me upside the head for all the abrupt stops I made along the side of the road to capture a picture. I think she may have wanted to as well \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/forestfloor.jpg\" alt=\"The forest floor\" class=\"floatright\" \/>One advantage to being there in the off season in the middle of the week<em> (besides the ridiculously low motel rates)<\/em> is very little traffic on the road to the forests. Which was good since I developed a habit of stopping in the middle of the road, as there was no pull off.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There were also very few people walking the trails, so <em class=\"b\">we had the place nearly to ourselves<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 It was a beautiful, sunny day which really lit up the yellow maple trees.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sqhands.jpg\" alt=\"Hyper squirrel\" class=\"floatleft\" \/>One of the highlights was coming upon an extremely hyperactive little squirrel in a tree.\u00c2\u00a0 He scrambled down a branch and pulled off a leaf, then scrambled up to a more solid branch and gobbled it up VERY FAST.\u00c2\u00a0 Then back down again.\u00c2\u00a0 <em class=\"b\">Squirrel on speed<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 But he was very cute.\u00c2\u00a0 With a very orange underbelly.<\/p>\n<h4>To view photos from\u00c2\u00a0the Hoh segment of our journey, <a href=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/hoh2008.htm\">CLICK HERE<\/a>.<\/h4>\n<p>Next post, Ruby &amp; First Beach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Day 2 of the sisters&#8217; roadtrip took us first to: Hoh Rain Forest In the first &#8220;oooooh!&#8221; moment of the day, the sun turned dew drops on\u00c2\u00a0gossamer moss into sparkling diamonds.\u00c2\u00a0 It looked magical to me.
