{"id":360,"date":"2008-11-24T00:58:01","date_gmt":"2008-11-24T07:58:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/archives\/360"},"modified":"2008-11-24T01:01:54","modified_gmt":"2008-11-24T08:01:54","slug":"twilight-the-movie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/twilight-the-movie\/","title":{"rendered":"Twilight &#8211; The Movie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/twilightcast.jpg\" alt=\"Twilight - The Movie\" class=\"floatleft\" \/><em class=\"b\">Ashley and I saw Twilight yesterday<\/em> with a theater full of adoring fans&#8230; including some very silly girls who screamed and clapped when Edward first appeared on the screen&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>First off, it was great having some mother-daughter-movie time.\u00c2\u00a0 Just fun to go hang out.\u00c2\u00a0 I miss being able to do that, so we must take advantage of the opportunity whenever it arises.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0It was also great to have reserved seats.<\/p>\n<p>The movie was&#8230;.\u00c2\u00a0 <em class=\"b\">good<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 Not great, not bad.\u00c2\u00a0 Better than ok.\u00c2\u00a0 Some characters seemed well very cast <em>(Bella, Alice, Dr. Cullen, and Jacob in particular)<\/em> and others were good, but not outstanding.\u00c2\u00a0 Bella and Edward had definite chemistry on screen.\u00c2\u00a0 Edward (actor) didn&#8217;t bug me as much as\u00c2\u00a0I thought he would &#8211; he was pretty good&#8230; but he wasn&#8217;t <em>perfect<\/em> for the role.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0Laurent had a fabulous chest.\u00c2\u00a0 Character development was limited, and important characters weren&#8217;t given enough screen time.\u00c2\u00a0&#8211; It all felt a bit too shallow to capture the intensity of feeling in the book.\u00c2\u00a0 Felt more like a Cliff Notes version.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure someone seeing the movie without having read the book would really &#8220;get&#8221; the depth of the story.<\/p>\n<p>I could have done without the weird tree climbing scene <em>(not part of the book, as I recall)<\/em>, and I was disappointed in the sunlight meadow experience.\u00c2\u00a0 It surprises me they didn&#8217;t spend a bit more on making this film, knowing how very popular it was.<\/p>\n<p>Of course the scenery in the movie was spectacular &#8211; it&#8217;s such a beautiful area.\u00c2\u00a0 Though almost everything had a blue cast to it that I didn&#8217;t see that much <a href=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/land_of_twilight.htm\">either time I visited<\/a>&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So see the movie &#8211; it was a fun afternoon diversion.\u00c2\u00a0 And I&#8217;ll look forward to on screen sequels.\u00c2\u00a0 But it really doesn&#8217;t live up to the standard of the book, imo.<\/p>\n<p>Have you seen Twilight?\u00c2\u00a0 What did you think?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ashley and I saw Twilight yesterday with a theater full of adoring fans&#8230; including some very silly girls who screamed and clapped when Edward first appeared on the screen&#8230;.
