{"id":404,"date":"2009-01-23T15:56:04","date_gmt":"2009-01-23T22:56:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/archives\/404"},"modified":"2009-01-23T15:59:38","modified_gmt":"2009-01-23T22:59:38","slug":"low-brow-nostalgic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/2009\/01\/low-brow-nostalgic\/","title":{"rendered":"Low-Brow &#038; Nostalgic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The discussion on <a target=\"resource window\" href=\"http:\/\/tartraz.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/typical-email-exchange.html\">Erica&#8217;s blog<\/a> yesterday reminded me of an open face sandwich I loved as a teenager&#8230;. and am, sadly, craving at the moment.\u00c2\u00a0 I say sadly because I&#8217;m on a particrularly restrictive diet for the next few weeks and cannot run out to the store and buy the ingredients to make one.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Perhaps you can make one and eat it on my behalf.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"boxblue\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" width=\"150\" src=\"http:\/\/curdnerds.com\/files\/kraft-singles.gif\" height=\"150\" style=\"width: 150px; height: 150px\" \/><em class=\"b\">Melted Cheese and Bologna <\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 slice toast<\/li>\n<li>1 slice Oscar Meyer beef bologna<\/li>\n<li>1 slice Kraft American Cheese<\/li>\n<li>Miracle Whip (not mayo)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lightly toast the bread. Cover with Miracle Whip. Add the bologna and top with cheese. Slide into a toaster oven or under a broiler and broil until the cheese melts and just starts to bubble. Let cool slightly before eating or the hot cheese will stick to the roof of your mouth.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I supposed you could solve the hot cheese issue by making two at a time, then putting them together so there is bread on both sides&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, I know, it probably sounds disgusting &#8211; but really, it&#8217;s good and is a <em class=\"b\">nostalgic &#8220;comfort food&#8221;<\/em> for me. I think the last time I had one of these was about 6 years ago while on Kauai with my sister.
