{"id":454,"date":"2009-03-14T03:44:45","date_gmt":"2009-03-14T10:44:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/archives\/454"},"modified":"2009-03-14T03:44:45","modified_gmt":"2009-03-14T10:44:45","slug":"gnarly-dude","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/gnarly-dude\/","title":{"rendered":"Gnarly, dude"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/fall12.jpg\" alt=\"Lovely falls\" height=\"287\" style=\"width: 200px; height: 287px\" class=\"floatleft\" \/>Yes, we&#8217;re still in Kauai.<\/p>\n<p>Visiting Kauai with Kristin is awesome &#8211; she knows all the hidden away little waterfalls, best places to view waves, which beaches offer the best sand or most privacy.  <\/p>\n<p>Yesterday she drove us to these beautiful falls.  <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve taken a lot more photos, but haven&#8217;t had time yet to sort through and post them&#8230;  I will as soon as I can.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/ash-fall.jpg\" alt=\"Me at the falls\" class=\"floatleft\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/surf-pose.jpg\" alt=\"Sufing with Teva\" class=\"floatright\" \/>Today the girls had surf lessons in Hanalei Bay. They had a cute instructor named Teva.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Chris, I thought of you when I caught a glimpse of him shirtless&#8230;. you would have oggled and drooled <\/em>\ud83d\ude42  ) <\/p>\n<p>The water was quite rough, but they did great! They even rode their boards all the way to shore a few times.<\/p>\n<p>Kris and I watched from the pier, cameras in hand. Ashley may add some video to her site.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/j-surf.jpg\" alt=\"J\u00e2\u20ac\u2122Neil on the boards\" class=\"floatleft\" \/><a target=\"resource window\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hawaiiansurfingadventures.com\/Default.asp\">Hawaiian Surfing Adventures<\/a> supplied the sunny yellow rash guards &#8211; which was a good thing, because those boards are rough on the skin. All that climbing on and off, kneeling and standing&#8230; both girls&#8217; knees are raw, and they have blisters on the tops of their toes. Teva recommended aloe vera.<\/p>\n<p>But it was all worth it. If the waves look good, they may go back out for a few hours on their own tomorrow or Monday before we return home.<\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both\"><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/ash-surf.jpg\" alt=\"Ashley taking it to shore\" class=\"floatleft\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yes, we&#8217;re still in Kauai.
