{"id":524,"date":"2009-05-10T00:33:10","date_gmt":"2009-05-10T07:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/archives\/524"},"modified":"2009-05-10T01:13:35","modified_gmt":"2009-05-10T08:13:35","slug":"growing-graphics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/growing-graphics\/","title":{"rendered":"Growing Graphics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"left\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/honeywort-plant.jpg\" hspace=\"12\" alt=\"Blue Honeywort\" title=\"Blue Honeywort\" \/>I had plans Saturday.\u00c2\u00a0 Things to do, places to be, people to see.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0However, before I started into that, I decided to spend a moment trying to create a floral graphic for the &#8220;Growing Gifts&#8221; application in Facebook.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<em class=\"b\">Big mistake<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I should state here that I don&#8217;t really <em>like<\/em> Facebook &#8211; I don&#8217;t take the funky tests, I don&#8217;t<img decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/clematis.jpg\" hspace=\"12\" alt=\"Clematis\" title=\"Clematis\" \/> join in all the hearts and hugs and hidden egg applications.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I mostly just check in now and then, because it <em>has<\/em> enabled me to reconnect with a few friends from the past.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But there is one Facebook application I really like &#8211; <em class=\"b\">Growing Gifts<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 Basically, you choose from a selection of graphic flowers <em>(using seeds you earn by tending to others gardens) <\/em>and send them to your friends.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 I like this app&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 because I love gardens and flowers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" align=\"left\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/gg-daylily.jpg\" hspace=\"12\" alt=\"Day Lily\" title=\"Day Lily\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They have some lovely flowers to choose from -\u00c2\u00a0but also some very boring ones.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0I decided to try my hand at designing an interesing offering to submit to Growing Gifts, and created the <em class=\"b\">blue honeywort plant <\/em>(aka blue\u00c2\u00a0shrimp plant) in the purple pot.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 And after finishing that one, had an idea for another&#8230; and then another&#8230; and another&#8230;..\u00c2\u00a0 and I never made it out of my house.\u00c2\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" align=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/silenceoftheclams.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/red-poppy2.jpg\" hspace=\"12\" alt=\"Oriental Poppy\" title=\"Oriental Poppy\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>(Acutally I did &#8211; but just to the garden where I planted a few real flowers).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So I completely wasted my day obsessing and making garden graphics.
