Since moving to the beautiful northwest, I have few reasons to return to the extreme cold, heat and desert of Salt Lake City.  There are some good reasons, mind you, including people (my daughter, granddaughter, mom and a few friends), a couple of restaurants (Cafe Rio, Asian Star) a french bakery (Glaus) and Xpedx.
But today I have one less reason.
I love Xpedx in Salt Lake City. I never pass up an opportunity to stop and shop from its cavernous offerings of paper, shipping supplies, ribbons, gift boxes & bags, bolts of wrapping paper, plastic serving ware and more – all very reasonably priced. I’ve never been in another store like it.
Today I received the sad, sad news that Xpedx is closing its doors of the flagship store (Salt Lake) this week – Friday is their last day. I am so sad, and now have one less reason to visit Salt Lake.   The only stores offering anything close to what Xpedx has are “me-too” paper and craft stores for scrapbookers. Â
No thank you…Â I’ll save time and shop online.
R.I.P Xpedx SLC. You will be missed (by me, anyway).
I’m so sorry to hear that this wonderful store is closing it’s doors! I love all your fabulous ribbons and I’m sure that’s where you get many of them. I hope you’re able to find a new place (up here in the northwest 🙂 ) to find such things!
Sad. I wonder if anyone will step up to take their place? I’m sure they will be missed by many.
Boooo!! To this I say “boo!!!” This is terrible news. If I have time I’ll go stock up on their amazing wrapping paper.
Booooooo!
When were at the Cafe Rio in Coeur d’Alene this past summer, Rob was lamenting the lack of a Seattle area Rio — the staff in CDA said one’s coming soon.
John, that may be the best news I’ve heard all year. OK, well maybe all month (I’ve received some pretty good news a few times this year).
OH that’s not good news… . We really likes that store! And I was hoping there would be more reasons for you to come to SLC.. I don’t want your trips to be less..only MORE.
One of the things that I miss is all the DI’s the grand daddy of all thrift stores. That still isn’t a enough of a draw to make me want to visit.
It’s going to be O.K. Cris Roller who managed the XPEDX Paper store for last 20 years has opened a store to fill the void left by XPEDX closing. It’s called PAK-N-WRAP the address is 9330 S State, Sandy UT 84070 801-441-1424
OK, someone in SLC please go visit and tell me if PAK-N-WRAP is worth the trip…
