Kauai is known as the Garden Isle – for good reason.
Here are some of the beautiful (and sometimes strange) flora we have encountered…
Hibiscus is everywhere.
I love Bouganvilla… particularly this salmony/pink color. But the deep fuschsia is awe inpiring as well.
Bouganvilla creates fantastic bursts of color along the roadside, climbing walls, pruned into trees, arching over walkways.

Plumeria is just coming into season. We continue our quest to find pink plumeria blooming on a low enough branch to photograph…

I LOVED this funky looking blossom below… we found a tree covered in them. I believe it is called Ohi’a Lehua.
It looks like it belongs in a Dr. Seuss book, doesn’t it?
Along with a bottle brush tree.
(weird, huh?)
This tree looked like it was covered with big yellow rananuculus.

There are many red ginger plants around, but I prefer the pink.
An orchid growing in a plumeria tree.

I love blue flowers…

OK, enough for tonight. Tomorrow is our last day in paradise….
Ok, now that isn’t fair. I am not one that usually misses home (Honolulu is where I grew up) but these pics do show you what Hawaii is all about. Very nice!!!
Breathtakingly beautiful blossoms, Biz, you grew up in Honolulu and left!
Yes, seeing these flowers is just amazing. I love the Plumeria the best, but all of them are gorgeous. I’m glad you took all these pictures!
So beautiful, and so unique! I bet the air smells wonderful over there!! Maybe you could bottle some up and bring it home with you?
Breathtaking!
p.s. I saw Ashley’s birthday post for you. What a sweet daughter you have. Happy Birthday fellow pisces! 🙂
Hawaii has the most amazing flora and fauna. And your camera and skillz do it wonderful justice. 🙂 Beautiful!!!
Amazing that Hawaii has bouganvilla, so does Phoenix, in fact I have 3. Love the piccys of the flowers, so beautiful. We have bottle brush trees too. I love that yellow flower!! Ranananancuuulus or something ?
Here in Nor Cal we don’t have many bouganvilla. It sometimes gets down below freezing here during the winter and you really have to be on the ball to keep them from dieing. We do have alot of bottle brush trees. Have you seen the flower buds as they’re starting to bloom? There are hundreds of red strings in perfect coils that unravel from the top down. It’s amazing.
Beautiful pictures of beautiful flowers, you really have a talent for capturing their beauty. Now you can make LOTS more beautiful note cards. I really think you should sell them. They are so beautiful. or even enlarged pictures to frame.
oH yes these would be awesome blown up to huge wall size for decorating…..
Nice writing. You are on my RSS reader now so I can read more from you down the road.
