Since I wasn’t given one at birth, I’ve decided to take on a middle name.  I wanted to choose an interesting name, with a cool meaning – and settled on one that means little; good looking.  Apparently this is becoming a bit of a trend right now (click to read the article that inspired me) , and I encourage you to do the same. I’ll even share my middle name with you…. we can all be a little good looking… or was that little, good looking?
So just call me Allison Hussein Hays.
Oh, and by sheer coincidence this is the same middle name of Barack Obama – soon to be the next president of the United States. Cool, huh?     Will you join me in taking on his middle name?
LOL- that is a fantastic choice. Well done, mother. Hussein fits you well.
This is worthy of some thought… For awhile when I was a kid I wished I had a name that was weather related: Sunshine, Sunny, Stormy… Thundery didn’t make it on that list, but neither did sleet.
Perhaps a name from Middle Earth?
No, actually, I too have decided on Hussein. Call me Kristin Hussein Cottle
My middle name is boring and white bread. So let me think. Middle Earth names are excellent ideas as well.
Christine Hussein Spiro vs. Christine Dumbeldore Spiro, or even Christine Eko (an awesome character from Lost) Spiro… I can’t seem to decide. Maybe I’ll use all three. Why not?
((too bad Hussein has such bad connotations to some because of Saddam))
Yeah, that’s the whole point of the middle name moviement – to counter the racial slurs of the name 🙂
If you click the link to the article that inspired me, you’ll see that an interesting phenomenon is taking place. Barack Obama supporters throughout the US are adopting the middle name ‘Hussein’. Inspired by a mix of anti-Muslim prejudice they find among others and the 1960 film Spartacus, where the slaves shouted in unison “I am Spartacus!”, they are fighting back against those who use Barack Obama’s middle name as a kind of racial slur.
🙂
I think Christine Hussein Dumbeldore Spiro sounds great.
If I adopted Hussein as my middle name, I may just end up trying to drop the ‘Hays’ part altogether… Robert Hussein. Or maybe, Robert Sadam Hussein.
Why stop at one. I’m thinking of being Fatima Hussein Pearce. I’m sure my in-laws would be thrilled.
It’s too late, I’ve already added a middle name years ago. Michelle Three Nephite Hampton.
Seriously, I do like your new name. Obama will win the presidency.
Michelle, I really like your middle name. Do mormons still believe in the myth of the three nephites?
AHH.
Yes, I feel better too. “Hussein” is a long-standing name in the Leber family as of today.
