I don’t know what the heck happened to trigger this, but for the past day and a half I haven’t been able to get this song out of my head.  Any suggestions???
However, in my head it not quite as performed in the clip – what I’m hearing is some mormon general authority’s middle-aged daughter perfoming this as a solo at general conference years ago (ET Benson, I think).  That she was a GA’s daughter is the only explanation I can think of for why she was given a solo spot. Oh, the warbly swooping up to each note was so very painful…
Perhaps you heard it and shared my pain…
Perhaps you’ve heard me imitate/mock it over the years…
Perhaps you are laughing right now thinking I deserve this.  Well stop it – because when you heard me imitate her you laughed too.
Please offer new song suggestions for my brain – this is cruel and unusual punishment!

LOL! Yes, I have heard you mock this a number of times. You’ve done an excellent job. I didn’t know how bad it truly was. But thanks a bunch, now it is in MY head….
Maybe you could think of a song you really love, and start singing that really loud to drown out the other one. I think I will try that suggestion myself, because yes, it is now stuck in my head as well. 🙂
A shining example of nepotism at it worst! Thankfully, it did provide lots of laughs!
I’ve been listening to Take Six lately, so I’ve been having the story of David and Goliath in my head pretty much constantly. That may be a good one to use to chase this one out….
Yes, I definitely remember you imitating her rendition of this song.
Take Six. Wow- I remember listening to them a bunch while growing up. They have some good stuff….
Oh, Craig, Take 6 was a great suggestion. I’ve now got “Mary Don’t You Weep” running through my head and it’s a far more suitable soundtrack for my brain.
I’ve also got it over in my left side bar for those who want to enjoy it…. great, great song. These guys are absolutely the best at what they do.
The only bad thing about Take 6 is that when they’re in my head sometimes it sneaks out and I find myself singing it – and believe me, it’s bad; even my tone deaf ears know that I’m totally out in left field.
Oh Lord, I remember that awful event, wasn’t it at Benson’s funeral we heard that catawallin? You do a great imitation by the way!
It was general conference. But I’m sure it was sung at his funeral at well, since it was his favorite song (or one of them).
