Snotty Cheerleader

Listening to the VP debate I am forced to agree that with my sister’s observation that Sarah Palin sounds like a snotty cheerleader.  The mean girl – the one who knows she’s pretty and uses her charms to put down and insult others…  she hides her own ignorance by making snide comments with a smile.

It would be nice if she’d answer the question Gwen asks rather than the question she WANTED her to ask…..

  1. Her performance in this debate tonight really did not improve my opinion of her. Actually, I probably respect her less, particularly after her comment at the beginning that she wasn’t going to answer the questions the moderator wanted her to “but I’m gonna to talk straight to the ‘merican people…”. (I’m such a Maverick, I just do whatever I darn well please??)

Please, just TRY to stay on task and answer the questions you’ve been asked.

She did okay on some parts, but it was clear that on many questions, whe just repeated what she was told to say, really without much clue or understanding. It will be interesting to see how things shape up tomorrow.

  2. I will grant her that the delivery of her lines went better than I thought she’d be able to do, but she said things backwards and jumbled.

My main criticism of her is that she out and out lied many times about Obama. On the idea that he voted against funding our troops, she kept harping on that even after Biden stated the reason why he voted against that bill, and noted that McCain voted against it as well (for different reasons)…

Biden explained his past votes on several bills, and she then corrected him on how he voted, and what it meant (in her slanted translation)…

I agree with Kris, some of her sentences were rehearsed, not natural.

Biden was natural at it. He didn’t need much prepping… He’s been there and done it many times.

As for her being ‘Joe Six-pack’ well… she was more ‘hick’ when she employed false accents…

Unfortunately, in America today, perceptions carry the day in politics over anything substantive that is said. The bar for her was so low after several disastrous interviews, that the fact that she was able to stand there and ‘correct’ Biden … and get a few laughs… she will likely be deemed the winner by a dumbed down public. At least the 51% of voters who so irresponsibly voted George BUsh another 4 years 4 years ago..

  3. A friend of mine who is completely disengaged from politics watched tonight and was impressed by her delivery. I had to point out all of the snottiness and her complete disregard for the questions being asked… and the fact that she made so many factual errors/mis-statements that I couldn’t keep track…. and this is an intelligent friend who should know better.

  4. How many times did she get the General’s name wrong? I agree with the above comments, also, she was mainly up there trying to quell her disastrous Katie C. interviews. I like how she tried to explain those with “the way the media interprets my comments.” LOL, the fact that you can’t name ONE newspaper you read or name ONE supreme court case other than Roe V Wade? How is the media interpreting that wrong?

She did look like a cheerleader, and the winking didn’t help.

Biden is smart, articulate and I really thought how at the end, when he was giving his closing statement he became emotional about soldiers leaving for Iraq, was touching. His son leaves soon. It was REAL emotion, making her seem even more like plastic Barbie Governor.

  5. From a good analysis at Slate magazine:

“When Palin recited McCain’s line about applying the principles of the Iraqi surge to Afghanistan, Biden (correctly) noted that the U.S. commanding general in Afghanistan has said the surge wouldn’t work there. (By the way, it does not bother me at all that Palin referred to Gen. Dave McKiernan as “Gen. McClellan.” We all make mistakes like that now and then.)”
