So, we learned this week that our sorry excuse for a president gave up golfing in 2003 “in solidarity” with the families of soldiers who were dying in Iraq, concluding that it was “just not worth it anymore” to play the sport in a time of war.
“I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the commander in chief playing golf,” Bush said in a White House interview with the Politico. “I feel I owe it to the families to be as — to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”
That’s his idea of sacrifice, to give up golf?  This man is a shallow moron.Â
Wow. I give him a gold star for his efforts in sacrifice.
I’m weeping. I am so touched that our commander in chief would make such a hard and deeply personal sacrifice. I truly feel he understands the stress and strain of the military right now as well as the grief of families. I hope he remembers to take care of himself while he spends hours away from the golf course in solidarity with the troops. I must go pull myself together and finish my day teaching, although it will be difficult after learning how united our President is with us and how much he is willing to sacrifice.
I think you are all being too hard on him. He REALLY LOVED golf. This WAS a big sacrifice for him. I mean, this is what he was doing when people were dying during Hurricane Katrina. He didn’t give it up then, but for the war victims… that is truly touching. It would be like me giving up chocolate. I know if I gave up chocolate for the troops that would really warm their hearts, just as they would give a rats ass if Bush has quit golf. I can think of several dozen ways he could show solidarity with them in a truly meaningful way.
Anyway, he didn’t really say he gave up the game. He just gave up letting anyone see him do it.
I am speechless. How did it come to this?
My son could be sent to Iraq at any moment, and this is who I have to turn to for solace and understanding?
The word insipid is too good for him.
He looks like such a dumbass in that picture.
So proud of my leader giving up his golf game for his country. Hope this nasty, icky war ends so he can feel good about getting back to those links.
*kicks him*
I’m so relieved that, despite his golf sacrifice, he continues to jog around, ride his bike and (most importantly)dance around like an idiot, so he can stay in top form and continue making these excellent decisions.
