I don’t get it….

OK, so I’ve been seeing these Bluefly commercials for awhile now – you know the ones…. where the woman is looking in her closet for something to wear to the dinner party downstairs and just decides to go nude.   Or the newest one where some gal wearing nothing but shoes and carrying a magazine goes through airport security, while the announcer says,…

“Bluefly – Always there when you have nothing to wear.”

These commercial makes no sense to me. If Bluefly is always there, why didn’t she go to bluefly.com and get some clothes???

  1. First, they are going with the shock value of a naked woman in a commercial of course. I get the impression they want you to think “oh, poor thing, next time she should go to bluefly.com!” Or that she took her nude self home and hopped on the computer and finally bought some clothes. ???

  2. Well it seems they’re saying if you can’t find something to wear, go naked, since that’s perfectly acceptable in our culture. But if you’re embarrassed to be seen nude (obviously these women aren’t too redfaced about it- and if I had a body like that, I wouldn’t be, either), you can go to bluefly.com and buy some clothes, to save you the embarrassment.

  3. Oh, poor thing…. with a flawless body and all that confidence to attend a family dinner, a cocktail party or walk through airport security in the nude. Yeah, I really feel sorry for her…. 🙂

  4. It is… mostly designer stuff. You can check it out here: http://bluefly.com/

Honestly, it took me seeing several commercials and really paying attention to what was being said before I figured out it was for clothes. I originally assumed it was a commercial for vodka or something like that…. (first commercial I saw was at a cocktail party). s.

  5. LOL it’s horrible marketing any way you look at it. I have never seen these commercials before, but, they make no sense at all.

  6. Like Irene I have never heard of Bluefly. It’s a shock value thing, it gets people talking and curious about the site. Look at us, they reeled us in. Now I am going to the site to check it out, although if it’s designer wear I won’t be buying.

  7. It reminds me in some degree to that stupid Travelocity Myth Busting Gnome – that can’t seem to make up it’s mind whether he’s busting myths or pointing out problems. Totally twisted and backward approach… Expect us to trust the stupid gnome by getting him to do stupid things. Expect us to want to buy your clothes by suggesting it is great to go naked if you don’t have a thing to wear…

  8. The girl in this commercial must be an idiot – or an exhibitionist. She’s in a new commercial attending a wedding… still in the nude. Why the hell hasn’t she dropped by bluefly.com (or k-mart, for that matter) and purchased some clothes!?
