Meet my newest addiction, thanks to Ashley.

I’d never tried a Chai Latte before (I know, can you believe it?) but had a sip of Ashley’s while she here a couple of weeks ago. OMG – love at first sip.
How can it be I’d never tasted this delicious hot, sweet drink? I live in Seattle, after all, the coffee shop capital of the world.
Ashley gave me a rundown of the different types of Chai out there, and insisted that Oregon Chai is the best (or at least her favorite). While at Central Market last week, I discovered Oregon Chai concentrate on sale for 2 for $4.00 – less than half the regular price. I bought a couple of each of the varieties (regular, slightly sweet, and caffeine free – made with red tea instead of black). I like them all – but prefer the sweeter varieties (of course).
Because I enjoy drinking this in the evening, the Caffeine Free variety has become my favorite. I always have it in my Laurel Burch cat mug, a favorite gift from my friend, Jana.
And topped with a little whipped cream and cinnamon, it’s simply divine.
What are your thoughts on chai?
Any brands in particular to recommend? Want to write a chai haiku? 🙂
Thank you Ash for showing your mother the light. I also love anything Chai or latte but my true love is a cappuccino! That frothy steamed milk on top….yummy.
Mmm. Yes I do love chai. I actually really dislike anything coffee flavored, so I always avoided coffee shops. But ever since my friend Ashlee introduced me to chai, I sometimes go out of my way to find a coffee shop 🙂 I’m glad I could introduce the chai tea into your life. It’s a delicious warm treat. Especially in the winter. Or fall. Or every morning.
That sounds delicious. Ashley and Justin introduced me to it when we were in Utah for a visit. That whipped cream and cinnamon on the top look heavenly!
big fan ~ we make it at the station durring the winter.
Sadly caffeine is one of those things I had to give up because of the aging process. I drank coffee for years until it mysteriously started making me throw up. Thank god alchohol has no side effects yet.
I’ve been a chai latte fan for years. I’ve now tried the Oregon chai and LOVE it also. It’s so much easier than steeping the tea and adding sugar. Now I use my battery operated milk frother and pour in the chai. It’s like a little cup of Christmas!
