I loved my two trips to Costa Rica, to Hawaii and to Victoria BC, San Diego and (kind of) to Los Angeles and Salt Lake… But I traveled so much last year that I had determined I wasn’t going ANYWHERE in 2012… was going to stay home and focus on my essential oil business, creating a residual income that would then allow me to travel more freely when and where I wanted.

I was content with that plan.

But then I got an unexpected invitation to spend a couple of weeks at a villa… in the guest room that is apparently just SCREAMING my name… a red guest room with a Chinese Opium bed… that looks out onto a gorgeous pool… and lush mountains and rice paddies…. in Bali.

My first reaction was, “I don’t think I can do that…” (nuts, I know!) since it was so sudden and I had determined I was staying home this year. And I would have to work things out with Margie (I am her Virtual Assistant), and potentially move an essential oil class I was teaching. I just didn’t have travel to Asia on my radar.

Yes, this is the pool and the house. (Allison, are you nuts???!!!)

And on top of that, this home is currently inhabited by three darling little girls I only see once or twice a year if I’m lucky. And an awesome son and beautiful daughter. And frogs. Oh, and a maid, chef and driver. I wonder if there is a pool boy…. πŸ™‚

Once the shock of the invitation wore off, I thought to myself “ALLISON! You would be NUTS to say no to that – no matter what it takes to make it happen! !” (I’m sure you were thinking the same thing… my sister was!)

Well, despite the prevailing opinion, I’m NOT (entirely) nuts – so I got the airline ticket and have started packing. I leave on Friday at midnight! I just hope I can survive the 20+ hours flying time to get there… and that I can fit in the seat.

I’ll take lots of photos, I promise. And yes, Michelle, I’ll record myself singing at least a line or two from Bali Hai for you (even though the movie wasn’t in Bali πŸ™‚ )

Bali haiiiiiiii may call you……

Yes, Bali is very distinctly calling your name, and so are all of us here waiting for you. πŸ™‚ Every morning the girls do their countdown of how many days left till Grandma Alli comes. I’m so glad you could arrange to come!

I sing bali hai whenever I’m on Kauai, because of course that’s where it actually is…..

Lol, very happy that you quickly changed your mind! That villa is to die for. I wonder if your opium bed has some opium in it.

Have a wonderful fabulous time amongst all your servants and frogs. Can’t wait to see your pictures and hear my song.

I want to come too!! Can you stop by Belize and pick me up?

Allison on March 5th, 2012 at 8:56 pm

@Sabina, if I had not already booked my ticket through Taipei I would certainly have come through Beliz to get you… πŸ™‚

You’re in your own piece of heaven there, though, aren’t you?

I’m hearing my name on the wind….. come to me…. come to meeee….

Hi Not Nuts! So glad you decided to come stay with us! Sorry no pool boy, but I’m sure the maid would be happy to bring you drinks at the pool. And the chef is AMAZING!!

It’s funny that you used to give me lectures on being spontaneous rather than sticking adamantly to my “plans” and now you’re getting a chance to practice what you preached. πŸ™‚

As soon as we saw that extra bedroom, and felt the vibe of this place, we thought of you. You’ll literally be able to step out of the door of your bedroom and dive into the pool. Bali is definitely calling your name. See you soon!

I think it’s wonderful the amount of traveling that grandparents will do to see their darling girls. I was amazed I got my mother, who didn’t even get on a plane until she was in her thirties and had NEVER left Western Europe, to visit us in the wilds of Africa! Doesn’t life take the most amazing unexpected turns? Enjoy Bali, and the family, I’m sure you will.

How exciting! And Brandon, you are so awesome to your Mom! What a wonderful life you live and how lovely to share it. I know your Mama is proud… and EXCITED! Have fun Allison!

Ok, first of all, you actually ARE nuts. But for entirely different reasons than for thinking of possibly NOT going to Bali. But that is a completely separate topic. πŸ˜‰

I am so excited that you get to go see the family in Bali. You will have such a wonderful time! I can’t wait to hear all about it. I love you!!

I am so glad that you are going!! It would have been ridiculous to decline it. Go! Have a fabulous time. Enjoy the time with Brandon & family. Take lots of pictures! Its unfortunate I can’t fit in your suitcase.

I’m just thinking about the joys of an opium bed. Sounds like just putting your nose in it could put you out for days. I’ll bet your dreams will be pretty vivid also.
